Ko Zarni is a former political prisoner. He helps farmers getting their land back. They have been stolen by the junta or by companies belonging to cronies for almost 20 years.
If new laws on property rights were passed in 2011, they do not protect the population.
With the new freedom of speech, some farmers are contesting the stranglehold of the state or private companies on their plots of land, by complaining to justice and by organizing demonstrations.
But many do not dare raise their voices all over the country, especially in the territories of the ethnic minorities.
